GUJI BENTI NENKA DECAF

Medium Roast | Espresso + Filter

Introduction

For extraction, this bean is great as an espresso but also works really well as filter/drip depending on your needs. Can also mix with a caffeinated bean to make a half-caf.

Today we are going to be making an affogato! Vanilla ice cream with espresso.

I do three heaping tsps of nice vanilla ice cream in a 6oz cappuccino cup but can use more or less depending on your taste preferences.

Puck preparation

Grind 17g of Ethiopia Guji decaf beans at your typical espresso setting.
 
Level your puck by WDT, tapping, OCD or other distribution methods. This one has utilized all 3, in that order.

Pull the shot

Goal is 40g out in 25-30sec.

For affogato’s it depends on how much ice cream you like to use and how strong the coffee is but I found 40g to be strong and 42-45g to be a bit more subdued but still delicious for people not looking for that strong of a flavour. It really comes down to personal preference but 40g is a great starting point.
